Cook Art Finals Next Week

The annual search for the best traditional caterer (chop bar keeper) by the organisers of the Cook Art Ghana contest comes to a climax next Saturday, October 25, at the National Theatre in Accra.

The contest, which started on regional basis in all the 10 regions of Ghana will witness a meeting of the 10 regional champions and their first runners-up, who will vie for the ultimate prize in cookery.

The Co-ordinator of Cook Art Ghana, Mrs Bella Ahu, said she feels gratified that all the efforts of the Cook Art Ghana team to impart the requisite knowledge of good personal hygiene and food preparation in environmentally friendly conditions have achieved remarkable success.

She said Cook Art has trained over 2000 traditional caterers since its inception five years ago. These women, according to Mrs Ahu, were taken through a series of workshops on environmental hygiene and food nutritional value, which take place before the annual cooking competitions. “Our food, Our Health” is the theme for this year’s event. Traditional caterers from the Republic of Togo have decided to participate in this year’s contest on non-scoring basis.

There will be an entertainment segment with the Ghana Dance Ensemble and the Bomkosa Concert Group, featuring Agya Koo Nimo.

The first prize winner will take home an extra large deep freezer, Gyapa Coal pot, a set of saucepans, while the first runner-up takes a double-door fridge, Gyapo Coal pot, a set of saucepans. The second runner-up takes a medium size deep freezer, Gyapa coal pot and a set of saucepans.

Cook Art Ghana is organised by Trafix Catering Services and sponsored by Unilever Ghana, Pioneer Alumiminum Company, Novotec, Enterprise Works Ghana, producers of Gyapa Coalpot and the National Theatre.
