Sarkodie (born Michael Owusu Addo) turns a year older today July 10.

Since gaining mainstream acclaim with his debut Makye in 2009, the tongue-twisting rapper has quickly gone on to achieve many high profile feats such as being ranked among top African rappers by such prominent outfits as MTV Base and Guardian UK.

Sarkodie is a multiple awards winner, bagging several laurels both locally and abroad. In 2012 for instance, Sarkodie was named Best International Act: Africa by Black Entertainment Television, U.S.A.

Sarkodie has four albums to his credit; Makye (2009), Rapperholic (2012), Sarkology (2014) and Mary (2015), and is generally considered a pioneer in the Afrobeat sub-genre Azonto for his single U Go Kill Me.
