Late Nii Odoi Mensah, former Actors Guild President
The late Nii Odoi Mensah who died on Tuesday, April 12, in China was laid to rest at the La cemetery and the funeral held at the Trade Fair Center, La on June 18 this year.
After the funeral, family of the deceased is complaining about a donation Honorable Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare gave them during the ceremony held shortly for the deceased.
According to a family member of the late actor whose name is only known as T.T, the president delegated Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare to the funeral due to this late mother’s funeral.
In a chat with KMJ on Hitz FM, T.T said the minister announced an undisclosed amount the president sent to be given to the family but after publicly telling well wishers who were at the funeral grounds about the cash, family of Nii Odoi Mensah cannot find the whereabouts of the money.
“Minister was at the funeral to represent the president because of his mother’s funeral. She publicly announced that she has an envelope for the family but when we went to the donation table, there was nothing there. We did not see the envelope at the table.
She did not disclose the amount in the envelope but told us to report to her if we incur any loss.”
He continued that family has made several efforts to meet the Minister to inform her about the development but all have proved futile due to her busy schedules.
“For about a month now, we have been trying to reach the minister through the actors Guild to thank her for attending the funeral and also inform her that we have not received the envelope she brought.
Anytime we go with the Actors Guild, we are told she is either busy or she has traveled but the guild has been trying for us to reach her.
It is true that she announced at the funeral about an envelope but we have not received it.” he added.
When KMJ, host of daybreak Hitz asked whose duty was to receive the money, he replied that he was busy when the minister was making the donation but he delegated some family members to go for the cash but “by the time they got there, the minister was gone. We asked the Actors Guild if they had been given an envelope but they answered negative”.
T.T said family of Nii Odoi Mensah is waiting to meet the minister to make official complain about the missing money.
Michael Kwaku Ola who was a panelist on the show informed the host that the minister has traveled but promised to inform her about the issue when she returns.
