Shatta For Peace Shatta For Peace

Music is a strong tool and that has been accepted by every Tom, Dick and Harry in this world. It`s a strong medium that can send a messages that transcend borders.

In all parts of the world, music has been used as a medium for advocacies and agenda settings with positive results. In Ghana, we can make mention of the All Stars song which was done to preach about the dangers of HIV AIDS and it worked magic on the populace.

It`s an election year in 2016 and almost every musician is recording one peace song or the other in their bid to make their voices heard in peace building. Whilst some are recording their songs with genuine concerns, there are others who are doing it with profit mentality.

Some are truly passionate about the messages they are preaching in their songs. In all, we are enjoying creativity from all these musicians but the question we at Flex newspaper want to ask is whether these peace songs can really curtail anything should we encounter any volatile situation in our country before, during or after the elections?

Are people ready to observe the messages in these peace songs to learn something positive from them? We are not too sure but we believe since some artistes are doing it for showbiz, same way, there are some people who are just enjoying the songs too.
