Ghanaian pop singer, radio and TV personality Jon Germain has disclosed that the king of pop music, late Michael Jackson, inspired his compositions.

According to him, there are several musicians he looked up to in his career but the Thriller hit maker was his number one inspirer.

“… Definitely Michael Jackson has to be the first. Singers out there who’ve inspired me greatly, some names a lot of people might not remember unless you’re much older. We could talk about the likes of Bruce Hornsby, Phil Collins is one of them, Michael Bolton, and Sam Cooke,” he told Mauvie Hayford on Touch of Class on Class91.3FM.

In recent times, I think Chris Brown and the Irish band The Script have inspired my music a lot,” he added.

Jon Germain also described Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba, and Kwabena Kwabena as brilliant musicians he looked up to on the local scene, adding that BET award-winning rapper Sarkodie had made him a fan of hip hop.

“Until recently, I wasn’t a hip pop fan but the likes of Sarkodie have turned me into a hip hop fan. I’ve always been a dancehall fan, born in north London, I’ve always loved dancehall. I grew up listening to the Cocoa Teas and Shaba Ranks but Shatta Wale, Jupitar, I’m a major fan of all those guys,” he stated.
