Renowned record producer, Buddy Roro has observed that hiplife artistes, Kontihene and Tic Tac are artistically being lazy.

His statement is on the basis that the prowess of these two rappers have deteriorated considerably, a reason none of their recent releases can match any song they recorded back in the day.

Roro speaking on how artistes he worked with which included Tic Tac and Kontihene performed at the time said they had the zeal to deliver but the situation is not the same now.

“They were very talented. They were hungry. You listen to Kontihene’s rap on the ‘Nyankonton’ album and compare it to now. I think he’s being lazy as an artiste,” he said on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz.

“I always fight with Tic Tac. He paved the way for the Ghana-Nigeria collaboration. When we worked on the ‘Fefe Nefe’ album, I remember D Banj was even begging to play mouth organ on some of the songs but we didn’t allow him. Tic Tac was rapping. Look at what he’s doing now,” he added.

Roro during the days of hiplife produced a number of hits including Zaaza by Kokoveli and Sekina by Antwi ne Antwi.

Kontihene made his debut on the Ghanaian music scene with ‘Nyankonton’ in 2000 which swept all the top awards at the Ghana Music Awards that year.

The album had songs like Aketesia, Asesa, Adjoa, M’adamfo pa, Seniwa and Effeh with production by Roro’s brother, Morris BabyFace.

Abrantepa.com can confidently say that these songs were hits then and now. Interestingly, when hiplife artistes perform songs they recorded back in the day at events, the response is huge than their current records.
