After months of anticipation ‘Book Of Life‘, the new album by Ghanaian Reggae artiste, Black Prophet is out today.

The album which was recorded at the Tuff Gong (Jamaica) and PentHouse (United States of America) Studios has been in the works for two years.

The songs on the album include Elmina Castle featuring Tarrus Riley, Distant Love featuring Duane Stephenson, Too Know and African Freedom.

The album was produced by Legendary Jamaican saxophonist, Mr Dean Fraser, and released by VPAL Music.

Black Prophet is an Afro – Reggae artist from Ghana and is among one of the first musicians who made conscious reggae from Ghana internationally known. His unique, harmonious reggae beat combined with a glamorous African cadence offers a very distinctive sound to his rhythm. His performances are described as a dynamic, toxicating and uplifting experience. Like many great reggae performers he is deeply committed to his art and believes in the spiritual power of music: “The industry lives in me and I live in it. My music is to educate and elevate people from their sleep and slumber.”

At the early age of seven the gifted artist performed for the first time in public with his first band. When fifteen he started as the front man of the Ghanaian reggae formation Vibration Boys which later became the Vibration Kings.

In 2003, the singer and songwriter made his first tour to Europe, where he played on various festivals in the Netherlands and Belgium. In 2006 he released the Album ‘Legal Stranger’ which contains besides hits like ‘Mama Africa’ and ‘Tell me why’ the song ‘Doubting me’ which was nominated ‘Best reggae song of the year’ at the Ghana national Music Awards. In 2008 his third album “Prophecy” was published which was a compilation of powerful songs such as “No pain no gain”, “Give me back all the natural resources” or the hit tune “Hot and Cold” featuring the British – Ghanaian Rapper Sway.

As his reputation further grew across continental Europe, Black Prophet has been constantly invited to play at various shows and festivals, such as the Oland Roots festival (Sweden), Rottodom Sunsplash Festival (Spain), Reggae Geel Festival (Belgium) or the Rastaplas Festival (Netherlands). In 2010 the gifted reggae artist won the Benelux – Final of the European Reggae Contest.

During his latest European tour with the Jamaican Artist Turbulence in February 2012 the conscious reggae musician showcased his newest album “Tribulations” which offers a unique fusion of African and Jamaican Reggae elements with traditional African music and hip – hop beats. “Tribulations” contains besides features with the great Jamaican Reggae – Artist Capelton, the Nigerian Artist 2faceIbida and the Ghanaian Artists Tinny and Asem, the single “Good Feeling” produced and featured by the world-renowned producer Dean Fraser during Black Prophet’s last visit to Kingston, Jamaica.

Black Prophet has meanwhile set up a fanbase reaching far outside his motherland Ghana, his songs get airplay all over the world and he has worked and shared stage with various international producers and artists such as Dean Fraser, Mikal Asher (Morgan Heritage), Alpha Blondy, the late Lucky Dube, Beenieman, Busy Signal, Sizzla, Tarrus Riley, Capleton, Steel Pulse, Israel Vibration, Fantah Moja and Rita Marley.
