Make kente National Ceremonial Attire

Mrs. Joyce Ababio, Director of the Joyce Ababio Kente Shop in Accra, has called on the government to initiate a crusade in making the Kente fabric the authentic national and ceremonial attire.

She said if this was done, “we would not only be adding value to our Kente but also make the Ghanaian identity distinct among the comity of nations”.

She was speaking at a ceremony where she received a group of visiting African-Americans currently visiting the country at her shop and gave them an account of the history of Kente and its importance in the national and traditional culture of the country.
