Popular Kumawood comedian actor, Kwadwo Nkansah better known in showbiz circles as Lilwin has expressed his dissatisfaction on the VGMA Board after none of his three hit songs got nominations.
The songs which includes I DON’T THINK FAR, CHOICES and MAMA BOSS PAPA which currently is topping most music charts were not nominated during this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA’s). The actor in an interview with Flex newspaper had said he was shocked after realizing none of his songs were nominated especially mama boss papa.
“I didn’t release the song this year but December last year even before Kofi Kinaata’s confessions, the video however was released on the 2nd of January 2017 on UTV. I filed for nominations and did everything that needed to be done, days after the filing, I was called to come to the office, I couldn’t go because I wasn’t too well but sent a guy on my behalf. The guy was told the songs were not nominated with no reasons as to why they were not nominated, for all I know, Mama Boss Papa is still topping charts not only in Accra but other regions. Chiefs, men, women and even children are hooked to this song than any other song, he said”.
“I would have been happy if I was accorded the respect by telling me my song (mama boss papa) didn’t qualify for this year’s nomination but might qualify for next year, but nothing of that sort has happened. Even if they thought Mama Boss Papa didn’t make an impact during the time of nomination, what of I DON’T Think Far and Choices which made waves across the length and breadth of the country? Are they trying to tell me those ones too didn’t qualify?” he added.
Lilwin said he has made his mind not to concentrate on any music awards any more but rather concentrate on how to do good music after all what is attached to these awards aside the normal metal and wood which only occupies space in our rooms.
“I know they decided to drop me because they think I am already a star in the movie world which is bad. I know many Hollywood movie comedians who are into acting and have won awards for doing music but like I said, I don’t do songs for awards to entertain my fans.” He concluded.
