Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie born Michael Owusu Addo has referred demands of a group calling itself, Kloma Hengme Association over lyrics of his latest controversial song ‘Jennifer Lomotey’

The group earlier within this week, issued week’s ultimatum to the artiste and his managers to either raise GH¢2 million as compensation for them for denigrating Kroboland or incur their wrath in court.They have termed some lines in musician’s latest hit ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ as a derogatory against Krobo women and therefore needs to apologise and appease them with the stated amount.

Through their counsel, Lawyer Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua (Dr) Solicitor and Barrister-at-Law, the youth demanded that portions of the lyrics be expunge which they find offensive and defamatory currently enjoying airplay.

Expunge or cause to be expunged the portion of the lyrics which my clients find offensive and defamatory or completely ban the use of that song from the airwaves;

“Expunge or cause to be expunged all audio and video clips of the song which are found on various social media platforms that are registered in your name;

Write an unreserved apology to the Chiefs and people of the Krobo Traditional Area, including a statement to the effect that such an offensive act will not be repeated against the Krobo people;

Make a statement to the general public advising them to desist from transferring or sharing the song which contains the offensive lyrics with anybody else; and,

For denting the image of the Krobo people and dragging their hard earned reputation in the mud, pay a compensation of two million Ghana cedis (GH¢2,000,000) to the Krobo people.”

Managers of Sarkodie have responded to a notice of intent to sue by the Kloma Hengme Association saying “The attention of Management of Ghanaian hip hop artiste Michael Owusu Addo “Sarkodie”, has been drawn to a letter from legal representatives of Kloma Hengme Association which gives Notice of intention to sue in relation to a recently released song ‘Jennifer Lomotey’, by Kurl Songs which featured Sarkodie and produced by David Kojo Kyei (aka Kaywa). A copy of the said letter has been referred to Lawyers for Sarkodie, for due legal process to be followed. In the meantime, Management will refrain from commenting on the matter.”
