Sometimes one wonders if there is a great working relationship between media owners and their staff in Ghana at all? Or can it be that it is happening all over the world in the media space?

There are countless times that radio and television owners have told their employees that they put them on air so they made them. In other words, they can also take them off air and unmake them. We have a feeling this can`t happen any where in the world but in Ghana where labour laws are not strong enough to protect workers.

There are stories of media owners selling their radio and television stations without even informing their workers about the sale. All they would hear will be rumours from industry people who might have heard about the sale of the facility and the date they will evacuate the premises.

In extreme cases, the bosses are involved in some of these ignorant behaviours but the people who are really guilty of this situation are the so called managers and department heads who are there because some good people are working tirelessly to make sure the stations get the necessary eyes and ears.

Managers of media houses are always abusing their powers when it comes to their operations. Whilst some abuse their powers on women and their subordinates, others take decisions any how because they have the power to do so without thinking about the negative effects it would have on the stations they work with.

For your information, no media station employs a raw person on their airwaves without a potential of the person bringing returns. One will only be given the chance to come on air when a talent has been seen or the person known to have the desire to breakthrough the media space.

Unfortunately for people on radio and on television, they are not happy on air because they see their owners as doing them a favour, therefore their destiny is on them.
