A former Campaign manager for the late president, John Evans Atta Mills, Rojo Mettle Nunoo has identified that varied Ghanaian paintings and imagery reveal symbolic expressions within the African setting.
The politician expressed: "arts is from creation and I take my inspiration from the environment. For instance some of my themes play around baobab trees and a baobab tree symbolizes strength and resilience of nature. In the North, the baobab tree symbolises a settlement. When a chief dies in the north, he is buried beside a baobab tree. This symbolizes different experiences and meanings within our Ghanaian cultural situation’’.
Works by Rojo Mettle Nunno and seven others will be showcasing at the Horizon Offices in Accra from December 7, 2017 to January 30, 2018.
The painting exhibition will feature artists like Wiz Kudorwor, Orlando Baeta, Awoyo Tamakloe, Sami Bentil, Amarkine Amarteifio, Philip Kumah, and Naa Ashirifia Mettle-Nunoo.
‘Art on the Horizon’ exhibition follows on from previous successful exhibitions organised and curated by Kings Crown Media, which included 555 and Goddess of Art respectively.
