Accra, Nov 2, GNA - A fair dubbed, "Education UK Ghana" to provide first hand information to students, parents, their sponsors, training managers and young professionals interested in training opportunities provided by the UK institutions is scheduled to take place from November 5 to 6, at the National Theatre in Accra.
It would feature 24 UK universities and colleges and 25 delegates from UK to exhibit the excellence and range of study and training opportunities available for Ghanaian students, employers and employees, Mr John Payne, Director British Council announced at a press briefing in Accra.
He said there was an increasing demand-20 per cent, among young Ghanaians to study in the UK in recent times and the fair therefore, aimed at communicating the UK's accessibility, affordability, quality, world class education in a welcoming environment.
Universities of Birmingham, Greenwich, Kent, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London Metropolitan, Liverpool John Mores, London South Bank, Loughborough, Middlesex, Northumbria, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Salford, Southampton, Arts London, Westminster, Wolverhampton, Glamorgan, City University, Coventry, Concord College and Hertfordshire International College of Business and Technology would be participating.
Mr. Payne said it would create an atmosphere of an education mall where counsellors, parents training managers and young professionals would walk through and shop around for their desired study and training programmes.
It would also communicate to the target audience, how study and training in UK could help them be the best by providing them with a world-class qualification for a competitive advantage in their career, with improved earnings.
He said, all the universities would be brought together in a single forum to interact with students, parents, training managers, employees and the public.
Daily seminars on topics such as foundation course for undergraduates, UK student Visa application, postgraduate study in UK and MBAs in the UK would be discussed.
Mr. Payne said there were 60 such events held around the world by UK universities, adding that the impact and importance is the contribution it would make in the development process in Ghana, as the students would return to Ghana after their studies to hold leading positions in various fields.
