Shi Ting Wang, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana
Mr. Shi Ting Wang, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, says the Embassy will spare no efforts towards promoting cultural exchanges between Ghana and China.
"Amity between people holds the key to sound relations between states," he added.
Mr. Shi Ting Wang said this at the 2019 Silk Road Language and Art exhibition, at the Confucius Institute, University of Ghana, Legon, in Accra.
He noted that art was a bridge for enhancing mutual trust and friendship among nations.
The Chinese Ambassador who spoke on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) of China, which mainly seeks to promote international cooperation said, the initiative had opened new areas for international cooperation, created new impetus and opportunities for global growth and provided a new platform and new opportunities for fostering closer ties between countries.
He said by improving connectivity between countries, BRI cooperation had strengthened economic ties and people to people exchanges between them.
"This will naturally build extensive consensus, enhance cooperation and ultimately promote development for all," he said.
Mr. Shi Ting Wang observed that Ghana had great artists and fantastic paintings, saying, "I have visited many Ghana Art exhibitions and enjoyed your wonderful art so much. I also hope more Ghanaian artists would visit China in future, and expose your national treasure to the Chinese people.
He expressed the hope, that more artistes will join the tide of cultural exchanges between China and Ghana.
Mrs Rebecca Akuffo-Addo, First Lady of the Republic of Ghana and special guest of honour, recalled that the two countries had long-standing fruitful relations.
She said such relations characterised the ideal situation in a global world, where whilst treasuring their own respective cultural values, each country had to learn from the culture of others.
The First Lady said she was glad about the fact that the BRI initiative was already bearing fruits and they could be seen.
She expressed her gratitude to the Green House International Development Ghana Limited, the Chinese Behavioural Law Society and the Chinese Academy of Culture and Art, for donating GH¢100,000, being part of the proceeds from the exhibition, to the Rebecca Foundation and hoped that the exhibition, which represented one in many initiatives and occasions, that would foster further growth in relations between the two countries.
The exhibition displayed 47 Chinese works of art including traditional Chinese paintings by members of the Chinese Academy of Culture and Art, and 20 Ghanaian works of art by a number of Ghanaian artistes.
The exhibition falls under the Belt and Road Initiative.
