The 2019 Poetry, Animation, Music and fine Arts festival has commenced at the Afua Sutherland Children's Park in Accra.

Dubbed ‘PAMA Fest’, the event seeks to celebrate poetry, animation, music and fine arts in Ghana.

Deputy Minister for Information, Pius Enam Hadzide who was the guest of honour for the occasion commended the organisers for putting together such a beautiful event and pledged the support of government towards such initiatives aimed at uplifting the creative arts industry in Ghana.

"I've been to a lot of exhibitions, and to think of the fact that this is the first-time you guys are putting together such a well-organized event, I applaud you," he said.

President of GUTA, Dr Joseph Obeng who also graced the event urged the participants and members of the Ghanaian Creative and Arts industry to "not just be creative with their skills, but to also be creative in the marketing of their skills, as their skills hold great economic potential".

The ceremony saw what can be called a sterling opening warm up performance by internationally acclaimed US-based Ghanaian saxophonist, Steve Bedi who will be having his main performance later tonight as the headline act for the event.

The two-day festival will be characterised by activities such as poetry recitals, animations and art exhibition. Also part of activities mapped for the festival is a music concert to be headlined by Steve Bedi and highlife sensation Kuami Eugene.

Attendance to the event is free and opened to the general public.
