The Alliance Fran?aise in collaboration with the French Embassy will on Wednesday, June 23 2005 present six continuous hours of diverse music at the premises of the Alliance Fran?aise in Accra.

Dubbed, "F?te de la Musique", the programme, which is held simultaneously in over one hundred countries throughout the world, will feature Highlife, Jazz, Reggae, Zouk, Traditional, N'Dombolo and other styles.

Groups and musicians billed to perform include the Ghanaian rhythm guru Amandzeba Nat Brew, Hewale Sounds, Tina Elivava, Los Rumberos, Roots X, BG International and Diallo Alpha.

Others are Bawasaba, Group Afrika, Sir Benjah and Boomers Band, IAS City Stars, Sogo African Music and Dance Ensemble and Wind Afrique Band. Together with his group, Amandzeba Nat Brew will thrill the audience with his recent compositions, which are based on diverse traditional rhythms from Ghana and other African countries.

Fresh from a performance tour of Obuasi and Koforidua as well as a concert in aid of Ghanaian children living with HIV/AIDS at the La Beach Hotel in Accra, Amandzeba is scheduled to expose the power and authenticity of indigenous Ghanaian rhythms.

Led by the flute magician Dela Botri, Hewale Sounds will showcase a series of traditional Ghanaian compositions and their contemporary extensions that have been laced with refreshing solos.

Currently based at the W.E.B. Dubois Centre in Accra, the group, has in recent times mesmerised enthusiastic audiences with a dramatic fusion of jazz, classical, highlife and funk with traditional rhythms. With Afrikabi Aperh on drums, Bawasaba will dish out a series of compositions from their rich repertoire which features a blending of Highlife and Reggae.

Based at the Odo Jazz Club in Accra, where they perform live music every weekend, the group has a number of albums to its credit.

The young singer Tina Elivava, Eddie Abdelrahmani and his Roots X, Sir Benjah, Sogo African Music and Dance, Diallo Alpha and others will take turns to entertain the audience with their various artistic creations. Dreadlocked music sensation Black Prophet will jam fans at the Alliance Fran?aise in Kumasi with several of his recent compositions, which are characterised by heavy instrumentation.

F?te de la Musique was initiated by the French Ministry of Culture in 1982. Completely different from a music festival, it allows the expression of music in a cheerful atmosphere and is often targeted at large audiences.
