Businessman dies in love

Asamankese (Eastern region) 14 November 2005 - When Isaac Okyere, a resident of Asamankese in the Eastern Region allegedly threatened a prominent businessman of the town with death if he (businessman) did not keep off his girlfriend, nobody took him serious.

But true to his threat, Okyere walked up to Mr. Kofi Boadu when he spotted him at a drinking spot with the said lover, and allegedly stabbed him in the full glare of the public.

Boadu's shouts of pain attracted eyewitnesses who immediately came to his rescue, but as they were rushing him to the hospital, he gave up the ghost. On the prowl, P&P gathered that the alleged murderer, Okyere had been in a relationship with one Lucy Prempeh for sometime. All was well with the lovers until recently when Lucy changed her behaviour towards the boyfriend and even threatened to walk out of the relationship.

However, painstaking investigations by Okyere revealed that Lucy was secretly dating Boadu, a married man and father of three. Since all attempts to get the girlfriend to stop his relationship with the 'sugar daddy' proved futile, he allegedly went to warn Boadu to stay off his lover, but this also failed to yield any result.

Thus when Okyere reportedly met the businessman and Lucy at a spot on October 29 this year, he decided to teach them a bitter lesson.

He allegedly picked a fight with the supposed rival, Boadu during which he pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed him in the lower abdomen.

In an interview, the wife of the deceased, Naana Akyia confirmed knowing the relationship between her husband and Lucy adding, "My advise to him to put an end to it fell on deaf ears." The Asamankese Police confirmed the incident and said investigations were ongoing.
