The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection has condemned actress Rosemond Brown, known in showbiz as Akuapem Poloo, for a nude picture she shared on social media.
Akuapem Poloo had posted a picture of herself naked in front of her son, who was in briefs, to mark his seventh birthday on Tuesday, June 30.
But the image received wide condemnation from the public with many ascribing child abuse to it.
Non-governmental organization Child Rights International, in condemning the act, reported the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
Akuapem Poloo has since rendered an apology for the act and removed the picture from her page.
However, Gender Minister Cynthia Mamle Morrison says her sector “is liaising with the appropriate agencies to deal with the issue”.
“The Ministry wishes to reiterate that the posting of nude pictures on social media at all times is a serious offence and all must desist from the act,” a statement issued by Madam Morrison on Wednesday, July 1 warned.
“Please stop sharing the post as this too is an offence.”
