The Deputy Minister for Trade and Member of Parliament for Tema East Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah is under attack for putting the lives of others at stake.
Mr Ahenkorah had tested positive for the coronavirus but still went ahead to socialize, an action that now puts those he interacted with in danger of being infected with the deadly COVID-19.
Speaking in an interview with Citi TV, though he knew his status before mingling with the public at the just ended NPP primaries, Mr Ahenkorah justified that he is asymptomatic and cannot merely infect others.
“My test results had shown I was positive a week ago and after one week, my doctors said I could step out. Except that I needed to wear my mask and observe social distancing. I decided to see how some of the centres were just operating. So, I stepped out into town a bit. It didn’t mean I couldn’t go out.”
His comments have caused outrage among Ghanaians with the lot taken to their social media pages to vent their disappointment.
Some public figures and celebrities have also taken to their timelines to condemn his actions.
Meanwhile, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has resigned from office as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, the Presidency has announced.

You’ve been asked to self isolate but you go to a registration centre to check on machines. For what exactly? Smh

I have no words.
I’ve admittedly let my guard down sometimes since lockdown, and it’s inexcusable.

There have been calls for the head of the Deputy Minister but that, Mr Boadu said, is “overstretched”

.. since he has tested positive, it will be better and appropriate on his part to self-isolate
