Awaiting the Supreme Court’s Verdict on 8/29/2013!

Wed, 14 Aug 2013 Source: Pryce, Daniel K.

I wish to reiterate the need for Ghanaians to remain calm when the Supreme Court makes known its post-Election 2012 verdict on August 29, 2013. This verdict could go one of two ways: either John Mahama gets to keep his lofty office as president of the republic, or Nana Akufo-Addo gets the chance to become president. Ghana has now gone through six successive, relatively brouhaha-free elections since 1992, and I am sure that not everyone is happy for us.

I call on all Ghanaians to take to the airwaves, print media, and online conduits to declare that nothing more than a peaceful reaction to the Court's verdict will be acceptable. Every outreach, every reminder, every effort for peace counts, and you have a role to play in this matter! This is why we created “Good Governance in Ghana” on Facebook.com, a pro-Ghanaian, forward-thinking, avant-garde pressure group that seeks to remind Ghanaians to put nation above party politics, ethnocentrism, and parochialism. I call on everyone to make his or her voice heard, because we cannot run a country that is engulfed in the flames of turmoil. A conflagrated and pulverized Ghana, by all accounts, will be of no use to either Nana Akufo-Addo or John Mahama, so do not stay on the sidelines, dear reader! Thanks for reading this short piece, and please do share this message.
