President Nana Akufo-Addo has revealed that government will not be distracted from its anti-galamsey fight until the environment is saved from the menace.
“Having begun it, we are not turning back until we make sure that our future is protected,” President Akufo-Addo said during an address to the Ghanaian community in Belgium on Tuesday, June 7.
Government has embarked on an anti-galamsey mission to ensure that the environment is saved from all he adverse effects of indiscriminate mining activities across the country.
Mr Akufo-Addo clarified that government was “not trying to ban mining in Ghana”, emphasising: “We cannot do that.”
However, he was of the view that “mineral deposits in our country are part of our heritage, and are meant to be exploited for the benefit of this and future generations”.
