When the Titanic was about to sink in the early hours of April 15, 1912, the captain ordered women and children first to the lifeboats.

One of the passengers almost invariably in desperation sighed and asked the captain, is that the law of the sea? The captain replied that it is the law of nature. Indeed, natural law does not allow any sentient human being to engage in extra-judicial killings and the 1992 constitution of Ghana is no exception.

Eight (8) Ghanaians were murdered in cold blood during the 2020 elections. Up to date Dr. Bawumia, the head of the police council, and his main consigliere Nana Akufo-Addo have not commiserated with the bereaved families, albeit, dabbling in phony charade: organizing a funeral in Accra for George Floyd who died here in Minneapolis in May 2020.

No serious country would allow Bawumia to contest the presidency for refusing to comment on eight Ghanaians murdered in the 2020 elections as the head of the police council.

COP Yuhuno, here are the two reasons why I think you must reject Akufu-Addo's deputy IGP who oversees the operations appointment.

COP Dr. George Akufu Dampare organized three violence-free bye-elections at Kumawu, Assin North, and Ejisu. Unlike the 2020 elections, no single soul perished in the afore-referenced bye-elections.

Per Chief Bugri Naabu's leaked audio that underwent parliamentary investigations, some sections of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts and aficionados believed that Dampare had had a raw deal with them for not allowing NPP’s thugs and brigands to intimidate voters during the above bye-elections.

Dear COP Yuhuno, by accepting this position, you are confirming that if any Ghanaian is murdered in 2024, you must be held accountable.

Issues of such nature depending on the magnitude could be handled in the international human rights court for crimes against humanity.

The second reason why you must reject the deputy IGP in charge of the operation is that Nana Akufu-Addo has no constitutional powers to assign you to oversee operations at the Ghana police service.

It means you have been appointed to carry out a special duty for the president not for the country and this is both legally and psychologically ethereal and antithetical.

Closely related to this is conflict of interest. Vice President Bawumia is the head of the police council and the presidential candidate of NPP, he cannot recommend the appointment of the deputy IGP in charge of operation to sabotage the work of patriotic and competent Dampare.

Dear COP Yuhuno, the city of Dublin in Ireland has an interesting slogan: “Obedientia Civium Urbis Felicitas” to wit, “the obedience of the citizens produces a happy city".

There is too much tension in the country and accepting such an unconstitutional appointment of juvenile lunacy will not inure to your benefit.

Needless to say, “many people die with their music still in them. Why is this so? Too often it is because they are always getting ready to live. Before they know it, time runs out." ----- Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
