NDC to sell Osu castle for 30 million Dollars ?

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 Source: New Free Press

The New Free Press is extremely concerned that despite calls for the President to be wary of the antics of his close aides nothing seemed to have changed in their attitude and desire to grab state properties .

The latest scandal set to engulf the ruling National Democratic Congress government is the proposed sale of the former seat of government, the Osu castle to Brazilian Company Brazil Invest Group for 30 million dollars !

The Osu Castle once the seat of government, is to be sold next month and be turned into a hotel and beach casino. Checks about this company reveal that it is a holding company registered in Sao Paulo, and has Brazilian businesswoman Karalina Humberto as Executive Director.

Sources close to the Presidency have confirmed that ongoing negotiations to sell Osu castle are being carried out by Mr Julius Debrah ,the Chief of staff at the Presidency , Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a Minister of state at the Presidency close aide of the President and Alhaji Baba Kamara, a special advisor to the president and Ghana’s former Ambassador to Nigeria .

There seems to be no consideration at all for the National and historical importance of the Osu castle once the seat of the former colonial administration and previous military and civilian regimes. We also question the need to sell this important edifice when it can be used as a tourist facility to generate revenue for all Ghanaians

The actions of the President’s closest advisors are undermining the efforts of government to fight corruption and we call for this reckless grabbing of state assets to stop.
