Tema – Manhean

Dear Sir,

SITING OF A COMMERCIAL PUBLIC TOILET ON A PUBLIC RIGHT OF SPACE AT TEMA MANHEAN SUBURB OF BANKUMAN BY THE MP FOR TEMA EAST

I am a private citizen who live in Tema Manhean, and have seen the development for commercial purpose a public place of convenience by the Member of Parliament for the Tema East Constituency, hon. Daniel Titus-Glover, at Bankuman near the Seventh Day Adventist School.

As a private citizen I have concerns and wish the Assembly takes steps to investigate and abate the project;

CONCERNS:

1. Bankuman is a developing suburb where individuals have privately acquired land for residential purpose and by thy assemblies own approval processes such buildings shall only be permitted when it has toilet facilities.

2. The toilet is sited in the road preventing and future development of the road with its complementary infrastructure such as pedestrian walk ways, drains and parking spaces

3. Public toilets are meant for public places such as markets and lorry parks inter alia and such a project which already injures public right of space is not in conformity with modern residential developmental trends

4. It poses danger to users of the facility since person especially children coming from the facility may walk straight into a moving vehicle.

5. It breeds indiscipline, creating the impression that one may develop a residential facility without toilets in the homes and that such facilities are to be provided for by the state and create challenges for the Assembly in prosecuting its own building regulations.

6. It is a bad precedence and already others have started developing structures there

I seek that;

1. The project is investigated as to whether it was permitted by the Assembly and under what conditions
