Ghana’s former President, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, have on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha festival issued a message of goodwill to the Muslim community and also asked Ghanaian Muslims to pray for peaceful polls this December.
Below is the full statement
In On the occasion of the Eid al-Adha festival of sacrifice, Nana and I join our Muslim brothers and sisters in praying for love, peace and happiness for all mankind.
The selfless sacrifice of Ibrahim that led to the annual celebration of Eid al-Adha should not be lost on us. Let the sacrifices of today, the sharing, gift-giving and prayers be our guiding principle every day.
We call on our Muslim brothers and sisters to also offer a word of prayer for honesty, tranquility and peace during the forthcoming elections in December.
May Allah answer our prayers and sacrifices and bless us with honesty, peace, success and happiness.
Happy Eid. Eid Mubarak!
