Rise Up to Defend Your Rights Oh Noble Ghanaians

For how long will you stay cowed, pushed to a corner, shivering with goose bumps all over your body, with teeth chattering as though, you have been evicted by the bailiffs in the bleak mid-winter? Where then is your sense of pride if you cannot stand tall to be counted, oh fellow Ghanaian compatriots?

When even a feeble or a sickly animal so to speak, is pushed to the wall, it musters courage to fight back, putting its predator to a frightful flight. When a Ghanaian is pushed to a tight corner without a breathing space, they sit there with cold chill descending down their spine pleading for mercy.

It is about time we stood up to fight the perpetual intimidation we are subjected to by the so-called incumbent in, or the emerging leaders of, Ghana. The current NDC government has politicized the security institutions in the country so much so that they have become unprofessional but effective weapons of intimidation to wield against the populace.

All Ghanaians and organizations not supportive of the government and her policies are deemed as enemies. The security institutions are therefore to see them as such, to crack their cane on the backs.

The police have the shameless audacity to bar sensible Ghanaians from registering their disaffection with certain ongoing injustices in the country through just and peaceful public demonstrations. Nonetheless, the same police have the indecency to allow one Stephen Atugiba, that loud-mouthed contemnor ex-convict to organise people to go on “Peace” demonstration.

What is good for the goose is also good for the gander. What are the nation’s security institutions trying to tell Ghanaians? Since the days of the late President Atta Mills’ NDC government until today, the Ghana security institutions have been hypocritically practising selective justice.

I have a heavy sense of feeling that should this deplorable behaviour of theirs continue, it will come back to bite them lethally sooner than later. NDC rouges have the right to do whatever crosses their minds be they evil or not, but those not belonging in that NDC family cannot even air their just views.

Is this the Ghana we knew of? Is this the Ghana we want to live in? Is this the Ghana we crave for? Is this the Ghana we want to pass on to posterity? Should the answer to any of the questions be No, then we have to be on our feet fighting to put things right.

We have to resist the oppressor’s rule. We have to resist the devil and he shall flee. We should not sit on our laps twirling the fingers hoping Providence will provide. No, we have to rise to our feet to fight the evil canker toe to toe, and bumper to bumper.

Indeed, “Cowards die many times before their deaths”.
