The Culture of Impunity

The Health Minister Sherry Ayittey must immediately tender her resignation as a Minister of Health of the Republic of Ghana. This Minister has signed a deal with the Cuban Envoy to bring 250 Cuban doctors to Ghana to work as doctors.

What the Minister should have known is that the Government of Ghana has no right to give doctors, be they Cubans or Ghanaians the right to practice medicine in Ghana.

This is pure and simple illegal.

The only body which has the right to register foreigners to practice medicine in Ghana is the Ghana Medical Council and not the Government of Ghana.

As far as the NDC is concerned, they think they can do whatever they want with impunity. Democracy does not function that way. The Minister should resign immediately to prevent further blunders. The GMA should take the matter up.
