The Government Needs To Tell Us More!!

Ghanaians, and for that matter peace loving people everywhere cannot sacrifice the peace and stability they are enjoying under our fledging democracy for chaos, lawlessness and deadly crisis. We must all be proud of and cherish the fact that Ghana is one of the few stable countries in West Africa and in Africa, a continent, characterized by crisis.

We as citizens of Ghana must all be concerned about the recent outburst by the President of Ghana, J.A. Kufour that he has reliable intelligence that Ex-President Rawlings has been soliciting funds from unnamed oil-rich countries to destabilize the nation.

Rawlings as an ex-President and a statesman has every right as a citizen of Ghana to contribute to the political dispensation of the country, but at the same time, we all have to be concerned, when Ex-President Rawlings who has on two separate occasions successfully seized power through coup detats, begins to hang out with revolutionary leaders of leftist states in Latin America.

If the Government believes it has credible evidence about this allegation, it needs to tell Ghanaians what it’s doing to make sure this never happens. Ghanaians cannot wake up to another coup detat as it happened in recent memory in 1979 and 1981. The government has a responsibility to protect Ghanaians and the democracy we so much cherish. We are already beginning to reap the fruits of democracy and cannot afford to erase these gains if our Government fails to act.
