Since the taking over of power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana has been on tender hooks and thorns in terms of security which is gradually paving way for higher terrorism and destruction.
It is on record that few days after the swearing in of H.E Nana Addo the NPP, an increase cases of political vigilantism was widely heard due to the appointment of some members of the party into some positions.
It all started with the hijacking and dragging out of office an appointed Ashanti Regional Security coordinator by an NPP vigilante group which caused confusion and destruction in court when they were arranged for court proceedings. Days later, an army Captain as at the time was brutally murdered by a group of people while he was on official duties. Not long after that a police man was killed along Tema motor way and a number of such have happened.
Just recently, an army officer in the presidency has been attacked and killed by the road side by some unknown people which is still under investigation. Days later, the Brong Ahafo regional youth organizer and a communicator of the ruling NPP has been beaten up by some people with the reasons for his mobbing becoming a hidden treasure. It is disheartening to hear that a police station was attached by armed robbers and out of that a COPs lost his life.
What kind of country and leadership do we now have? I think Ghanaians entrusted Ghana into the hands of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo with the stunning and historic 53.85% win to take Ghana a step further than we are experiencing now. Ghana is now awaiting the day Boko Haram or a similar group will attempt her territories since the government is not able to manage security issues arising from its own affiliates.
The ruling party members are seen more into causing these insecurity with the mind set of having full back up from the big wings that hire them to go about such an operation. It is important that H.E Nana Addo stops trusting and defending his appointees and followers since that creates some level warrant to do anything. The president is a president for all and he must ensure that our lives are safe and guarded.
The security services must be provided working materials to facilitate their operations. There is no doubt that these security services now don’t have protective clothes to be used during their work and how can’t they be gunned down by ordinary people. The government should look at how the lives of these personals and Ghanaians are protected.
