Who Understands Ghana?

Thu, 11 Feb 2010 Source: The Royal Enoch

This country has got so many faces

None of them the same

Some faces are made of gold

Others are made of silver

Some faces yearn to forget

Whilst others regret

What should never have been

But somehow came to be

This country may have many faces

But the mask which it wears is one

This country belongs to our ancestors

It's also our birth heritage

It's blood flows through our veins

It's colorfulness our tribes

It's dreams keep us alive

It's nightmares keep us awake

We all want the best for this country

And the best is yet to come

This country is all that our ancestors had

And this country is all that we have got

This country bears many contradictions

It also houses secrets untold

It is home to Holy men

And whores on high heels

It is divided between the lazy rich

And the hard working poor

It is ruled by educated fools

Who manage wealth poorly

This is a country half empty

Or is this country half full

This country has lost its mind

This country imports what it could make

This country is unable to market its own self made goods

This country doesn't give a damn about its citizens

This country is following as opposed to leading

Everybody wants to leave this country

Including the deaf, dumb and blind

This country has got me so confused

This country has got me thinking about this country

Still I don't understand this country

So what about you
