  Charlie, much as I enjoyed your wonderful piece and your verbal display, your historical aspect or provenance of Cocoyam does not hold water. First, we have to thank the Portuguese for most of our staples. They brought us Mango, Plantain, Tomatoes, Cocoyam, Cassava, Cocoa and a lot more. None, of the listed staples were indigenous to Africa and definitely not in your imagined "Gyaman Enclave". That, am afraid is a
  fat lie! Even the ubiquitous "Neem Tree" was brought to Ghana by Guggisberg from India. We have to give credit where credit is due.
