  I would have wanted to voice my concern about why this information hasn’t found it’s way into the media, but it’s irrelevant. The reason is simple, it wouldn’t stimulate any queries as is the status quo in Ghana. We don’t care about anything, especially concerning vehicles. It’s as if people go into politics in Ghana because of cars.
  When Mills winning the presidency hit the news, what ensued with vehicles stolen by NPP members was staggering. About 1000 vehicles disappeared, and Mills never either investigated or cause his administration to issue any information about the whereabouts of the vehicles. Below is a little information about cars during Ghana@50.
  12.0 VEHICLES: Ghana@50
  
  The Government accepts the following findings and recommendations of the Commission:
  
  12.1 Transportation was provided for the foreign dignitaries who attended the Jubilee celebrations and the AU Summit. According to the CEO of the Secretariat, the Government was obliged to provide transportation for heads of state, foreign ministers and two other foreign officials of the 54 member countries of the African Union. With 54 member countries, this translated into two hundred and sixteen (216) vehicles. Ghana was also required to provide ten (10) vehicles for the members of the AU Commission, twenty-two (22) for the Heads of Regional Economic Communities and a requisite number of buses to ferry staff from the AU Commission who would be servicing the Summit.
  
  12.2 There was no clear direction, whether from the Cabinet or NPC, on the quantity of vehicles to be purchased. The memoranda and minutes sighted by the Commission gave different directions on the quantity of vehicles to be purchased for the 2007 and 2008 activities.
  
  12.3 Eventually, some three hundred (300) vehicles were purchased. There was no definite authorization for the purchase of the three hundred vehicles including Jaguars, BMW 730 LIs.

  AMIDU HAS TOUCHED ON VERY IMPORTANT ISSUES THAT DESERVE IMMEDIATE ANSWERS FROM THE SPEAKER AND PARLIAMENT. ALL PERSONS WHO CARE ABOUT THE GOOD OF THE NATION SHOULD WELCOME AMIDU'S CONCERNS.
  
  Some of us may disagree with Amidu on certain issues, but he clearly raises very important questions here. Ghanaians should not be e=silent when their elected and appointed leaders are using tax payers' funds to travel outside the country to seek medical care while millions of Ghanaians at home can barely afford any decent healthcare. The Speaker needs to explain why he has to undergo treatment in Dubai instead of Ghana, and the tax payers who are funding his repeated trips to Dubai for his medical treatments also deserve to be told what medical ailment he's having treated in Dubai. Until folks learn to have an ear to others whom we may not always agree with, we'll all be driving on a one-way street to nowhere. The issues and concerns raised by Amidu in his article are matters that deserve real answers from the Speaker and Parliament. The NDC just can't dismiss Amidu as a trouble-making out to derail the ambitions of the NDC in the coming elections. If the NDC welcomes the serious questions often raised by Member of Parliament in in his exposes, then the NDC should should also be fair-minded enough to admit that Amidu has touched on matters that should be of great concern to all Ghanaians who care about the nation. Amidu should be commended for his stance here. any abuse of power or resources belong to the people of Ghana by any politician, regardless of which political party they belong to, must not be tolerated. The people of Ghana deserve answers from the very elected officials who continue to use tax payers' funds for their personal needs. Can't have good governance without accountability by government and elected officials to the people of the land. Amidu is right in pointing out the corruption and hypocrisy that he details in his article, and it will be wrong to dismiss his concerns.
