  What economic impact has galamsey had on the lives of the average Ghanaians. I think the answer is none. The only people who have benefited are the owners of the mines and the government officials.
  Cocoa farms have been destroyed lands poisoned, rivers and streams just wasted. How can we develop industrially without water.
  Who ever advised the government to pass that small scale mining act did a very terribly bad job.
  People need food and water , timber to build homes. But we have destroyed them all for selfish gains.
  
  Ghana needs strategic planning not flyby night advisement.

  Ferdinand Adjei, you should be bold and accept the fact that while PNDC gave Ghanaians the go-ahead and do surface mining, "international galamsey" became part of us under the Mills/Mahama administration through $3billion loan agreement from China. Who was Aisha Huang a "Galamsey Queen" who came to Ghana from China and took the country at ransom and under whose government? Aisha Huang dared the government then to arrest her, and was she arrested, if not, why? I have no problem with the Chinese because we have given them the green light to do whatever they can to our environment.
  
  Right now, the entire country is dancing around the problem of galamsey as if we have no idea where it started. The most painful aspect of galamsey is we are destroying the ecosystem as if we don't understand its impact on our livelihood. Who can live without water?

  BAN all mining, period because whenever you give Ghanaians an inch, they will take a mile. To intentionally poison the water bodies and food sources of over 32 Million people with dangerous toxins is tantamount to TREASON. Every one behind the orchestration or implementation of this evil act must all be arrested, jailed for a minimum of 30 years, or executed.

  Well said,but to ban it is not the way forward.We need to find the most suitable way of mining so it won't have negative effects on the physical environment.
