  Godson Bill, you have to understand that while you understand the role of the military in our society, others do not and till at least, 80% of Ghanaians understand that internal security matters are the sole responsibility of the police, the military's presence will always be around.
  
  Most Ghanaians fear the military than the police so just think about that, and I will never stop saying that Ghana is what it is due to our mindset, attitude and posture.
  
  Some Ghanaians are too "RAW" to be among us and they are those who need the military to instill discipline in them.
  
  I quite remember during covid when orders came that people should stay indoors because venturing outside is dangerous, a guy was caught disobeying the order and when asked, the said that "He is venturing outside to see if he will be beaten by the military". Now, with such a human in our midst which he is not alone, why do you think the military should be consign to the barracks?

  The writer's arguments are far from your notion that civilians fear the military more. It's about delineation of responsibilities. The police must be resourced with the needed training, staff levels, and equipment to take full responsibility of internal security whilst the military is resourced in a similar manner against aggression of external agents and forces. The deployment of a large military protection for the EC boss is government's abuse of state resources.
