  Ghana is heading dangerously into distrustful sects in which political identity defines social identity. Such increased polarisation and tribalism results in narrowing of the space for nation building and mutual understanding. As group conflicts come to dominate social and political scenes, such an environment risks eroding social cohesion and accelerating democratic erosion.
