  I strongly support your advocacy. This fundamentally mean that the cotton industry in Ghana has to be revitalized and given 100% attention in order that the raw materials needed to feed the textile industry is very well assured with constant supply and for export as well. The northern sector is a rich ground for the production of several metric tones of quality Cotton just like Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Mali, Egypt which has contributed immensely to their GDP growth. Its a fertile advocacy for millions of youth engagements.

  This is a very good proposal. But the issue is not that simple. around 2004 when Kwadwo Allan Kyeremanteng was the trade and industry minister, he did introduce Friday made in Ghana wear. That was well accepted even by the corporate world, with many having special local prints for Fridays. This was meant to stimulate appreciation of our own fabric and keep our textile industries in business, with their potential to generate employment.
  But what did we see? The greedy and unpatriotic businessmen started sending our designs to companies in China to manufacture for us. These came in cheaper due to relatively lower production cost. And what was the results? Most of our people began patronizing these made in China fabric. Hence, though corporate world was still wearing made in African print designs, these were coming from China. Thus, further impoverishing the Ghanaian Textile industry.
  What can we do?
  Among other things, use import duty as a tool to make the Ghana in prints more competitive.
