To describe speaker Alban Bagbin as the greatest of politicians in the north is an overstatement by the author. This characterization is a clear embrace of the performative politics in Africa that has hardly helped the mass of the people. Bagbin is no doubt a performer but I would challenge the author to point to any meaning transformation that Bagbin has brought to his constituency and the people of the Upper-West Region which he led over decades. Go to Nandowli and Sombo his native village and see if there is any remarkable transformation the people whose son is described here as the greatest can boast of.
On the national stage, he been loud enough to win applauds but let's be humble with our characterization. Any serious politician even in opposition would have brought a lot of change to the region through strategic thinking and negotiation.. For me, Alban Bagbin even in this second term as speaker has simply eaten the lunch of the Upper-West Region.
