  Just imagine a system where a President is elected to serve a term of seven years, and that President happens to be driving the country into a ditch after only three years in office. Should Ghanaians sit and watch that same incompetent President spend the remaining four years destroying the nation? If a President can't accomplish anything in a four-year term, then that President has no business being President. Ghana should never be fooled into diving into a seven year term. Even the proposed five year term is senseless.

  In other words, dedicated, selfless, patriotic leaders in the same mould as Kwame Nkrumah with the sole purpose of improving the lives of the populace through investing our neagre resources in tangible and real infrastructural projects. Duterte, sat as a mini emperor in the Philippines for seven years,did bugger-all to improve the lives of the Filipinos apart from killing people that he did like. He never solved any of the real problems faced by the Filipinos. Can you imgaine a damp squib like Akuffo Addo ruling for seven bad years at a stretch?
  Just look at the meaningful and life changing stuff unelected but a real conviction politician such as Ibrahim Traore is doing for his people. That is precisely what we really need . Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, was a soldier in Turkey ,yet when he saw the hopelessless of the Arab inherited Islam crap, he decided to ditch the Arab Sharia Nonsense dress code, women segregation, memorising the useless koran etc and embarked on secularism and industrialisation , real education and proper work ethics, Adopted proper European style penal code that was fit for purpose for the Turks. His legacy is testament for what any visionary and patriotic person with innate conviction can do for his/ her country. Cheers!

  All of that are nonsense. The real answer to developing Ghana is not to extend the years of political terms but to abolish the practice of political appointments and ensure that all top government officials are genuinely elected by votes, if not from all citizens, then at from the staff or stakeholders of various entities. For example, the people of the judiciary will vote to choose their Chief Justice (CJ), the people the police will vote to choose their Inspector General of Police (IGP), The staff of the electoral commission will vote to their Electoral Commissioner (EC), the people of education sector will vote to choose the Minister of Education (MOE) and for to every agency, institution or any public entity to have competitive performance, less corruption, fairness, trust, integrity and political independence with equal rights or equal chances for any good competent citizens to also serve at top positions in government.

  The constitutional review should have addressed the colossal and core problem of Ghana: Two tribally affiliated parties alternate in government, each starting their tenure by removing all obstacles to theft: A new government will immediately replace the leader of the supreme court, the leader of police, the leader of the election commission and the anti corruption bodies with loyalists who will reliably look the other way while they loot the state.
  
  This overarching problem is not addressed by the commission. There must be more robust ways to elect these officials and they should have the protection only to be removed by impeachment, not by a small group of the presidents friends, as happened now with Gertrude Torkornoo.
