Most countries have this provision that "Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court or jury". If that is the case, then why are some 'innocent' persons denied bail until trial? Why are are 'innocent' persons accorded bail or confined to home detention till trial? 'Innocent' means one has no guilt attached to them, so why treat that 'innocent' person as if they weren't 'innocent' by tagging restrictions on them while awaiting trial? An innocent person should not have restrictions on their freedom or liberties while awaiting trial, for that defeats the notion that one is presumed innocent until found guilty by a court. Why can't the law be honest and simply admit that accused persons can only be deemed to be innocent after a trial that might have found them to be not guilty as charged?
