  I guess the comments to the article are a bit confusing but getting back to the article, I think in a subconscious manner you are applying work-life balance in your day to day engagements. You may not have appreciated it but work-life balance does not equate to equality in your attachment to the two but to serve as a constant reminder to ensure an appreciation of the need not to neglect one aspect of life. You describe a robust work ethic which is guided by models whilst not compromising on quality family time which in all fairness is work-life balance. If you gather the data globally you would appreciate the staggering number of working individuals who fail to achieve that. Hence the concept is not a myth but requires much more effort to seamlessly integrate in everyday life.
