  As a Ghanaian, I must applaud you for your well-written and insightful article.
  Trouble is: people like Gordon Brown are Conviction Politicians with Conviction of purpose...a bit like Kwame Nkrumah. Their sole aim is: to get into politics and improve upon the lives of their people. Finding a Conviction Politician in the landmass of Nigeria is as rare as a hen's teeth.
  
  Now, the first venal politician to ever rob the people of Nigeria prior to your independence was Namdi Azikwe, who siphoned over 700,000 pounds meant for infrstructural projects in the Eastern Province into his privately owned bank in Lagos in the 50s.. Even when the British found him guilty, gullible Nigerians still adored him and voted for him.
  
  Umaru Dikko, stole over one billion dollars from you lot in 1983, only to come back in 2010/11 thereabout to made a political leader and a chief in Kaduna.
  Abacha, Obasanjo, Babsjinda, Yar Adua, Shagari, Buhari etc all used your national oil revenue as their personal ATM..
  
  Sadly, the ordinary Nigerian living in the stinking mess of Maloko, giving a chance to rule, will engage in the same blatant oryy of self enrichment..It is innate, inbred and the character traits of Nigerians that wealth irrespective of how it is acquired will earn you respectability. The concept of collectivness as we grew up with in Ghana is simply alien to the mindset of Nigerians.
  
  We do have people like that in Ghana, and the vast majority of them can be found in the Political Party called NPP. There is not a iota of patriotism in any of them. Their creed is Greed, Arrogance, Personal Enrichment, Aggrandisement ,Sophism,and Ostentatiousness
  ,
  Africa- wide, Mobutu stole, Houphoet Boigmy stole, Bokassa stole, Gadaafi stole, Mugabe stole etc, and even our own Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta borrowed billions of dollars on our behalf only for him and his cronies to steal it. He has even absconded from Ghana a country he hypocritically shoved
  in our faces that he loved,And, he did that because venal ,vile and despicable Nana Akufo Addo was in bed with him.
  Lastly, how do you build a nation with kleptocrats at the helm?
