  Thanks to this courageous writer for taking the trouble to bring this dangerous issue to the public's attention. These get-rich-quick crooks are cutting corners to hasten the ripening of their produce, all the expense of public health safety, and potentially leading to a boycott of Ghana's fruits by the international market. Let's hope the right government agencies are reading this article and that they will take steps to educate farmers and growers about the use of this chemical, and also begin bringing criminal action against those who repeatedly engage in this dangerous practice.
  
  This expose is just one side of the coin. One also wonders if the agencies responsible for monitoring Ghana's fruit and produce production even take the trouble to have these products tested for contamination of any sort, given that galamsey has polluted many rivers, and these rivers probably carry water through areas where such produce and fruits may be grown.
