There is no ambiguity in what the constitution states about the term of office. It's just a waste of time to go to court. Nobody shd try changing what the constitution has stated to favour anybody. John Ma ...

John Mahama shd leave office upon the expiration of this term. After all what you guys can do is to overturn court rulings to free corrupt party officials who are stealing to make Ghana poorer.and poorer . Four years is even too much for some of you. Let's maintain 4yrs maximum, 2 terms.

In Nigeria, the approach is quite different, it says a person elected to the office of president or governor shall not take oath of office more than twice for that position, this means that if a governor or president dies and the deputy takes oath to complete the tenure, that deputy will be eligible to seek for that office only once more after which he is no longer eligible

Useless court action. "A person shall not be elected to hold the office of President for more than two terms", says the law. Nowhere is there any mention of whether the two terms were served consecutively or not. It's therefore safe to conclude that a President 'elected' twice and serves two terms clearly is precluded from seeking another term as President. In the case of President Mahama, he was first elected into office as President, and served that term before losing his re-election bid. Eight years later, President Mahama again was elected for a second time as President, and he's currently serving that second term in office. There's no ambiguity about the language dealing with the term limit imposed on persons elected as President, and one wonders why these litigants are out to waste the Supreme Court's time.
