  Lleadership of the Administrative class is selfish, lazy and short sighted. Yes the minimum qualification to become a lecturer is PhD as a writer pointed out.The professional class of the administrative class has similar requirements. For instance, finance and audit staff are supposed to be chartered accountants. As a result of this, most of them were downgraded together with the lecturers.Leadership saw nothing wrong with that and never fought for those that were affected.
  They never ever mentioned professional group and analogous grades in thier negations instead always use administrative class to cover everyone hence the recent confusions.

  The same " we are the same song, adm. staff spend hours chatting and doing little. So many of them so they have time talk nonsense. If you want the same conditions, join them. Cabin crew comparing themselves to pilots.
