If students knew that Maths and Physics underpin how everything thing works in the Universe and were not made to fear Maths, more people will excel at it. Pls read You are the Universe by Deepak Chopra if you haven't already and you will see where I am coming from? I believe if Positive Affirmation works, then Negative Affirmation also works? something Ghanaians are very good at?

  In English you hear adults, even people with Phd. putting two stresses on one word in a sentence.

  I guess that is why there is core and elective math. In your example the engineer would not only need core but also elective math. Even in developed countries, to graduate from high school, there is an amount of math that involve all those core concepts in math that one would have to do regardless of whether you are going to arts or science. What I do agree is to have about 2 or 3 levels of the core math to meet the needs for students going into various courses and not have all of them sit the same math exam.
