The ultimate responsibility for safeguarding a home lies with the homeowner, not the security company they pay to protect it.
When a burglary occurs, a responsible homeowner does not simply sit back and trust the security company to fix their own mistakes. Instead, the homeowner takes charge. They demand immediate accountability, forcing the company to identify exactly where the system failed and prove that those vulnerabilities have been permanently closed.
This exact principle applies to the AIA. As the Managing Director, she holds the overall, final accountability for the organization's success and security. Being an accountable leader means:
• Holding agencies to book: Actively forcing sub-contracted or accountable agencies to answer for their failures.
• Demanding evidence: Requiring clear, documented proof that operational gaps have been identified and remediated.
• Escalating without hesitation: If these agencies refuse to cooperate or fail to deliver, a true leader immediately escalates the matter up the chain of command first to the Minister, and if necessary, directly to the President.
Accountability cannot be outsourced. If the system fails on your watch, the duty to fix it and to break through any bureaucratic resistance to do so stops at the top.
