Responsible driving goes beyond fear of traffic cameras

Imagine driving along a Ghanaian road and suddenly seeing a camera that can detect your traffic offences. You may not see a police officer, hear a whistle, or be stopped on the road. Yet, your offence can be recorded, and a notice may reach you later.

Welcome to TraffiTech-GH!

Some motorists may be worried about the system, while others may be wondering how to escape it. But here is a more important question: If the camera were not there, would you still obey the traffic laws?

TraffiTech-GH may help detect traffic offences, but no camera can monitor every road at every moment. A motorist who obeys the law only when a camera is present has misunderstood the purpose of the law. The real test of responsible driving is what we do when nobody appears to be watching.

The same principle applies to our relationship with God. Some people behave well only when their pastor, spouse, parents, or fellow Christians are watching. Others imagine that because nobody has confronted them about their sins, they are safe. But the Bible declares that “all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Heb. 4:13).

Unlike a traffic camera, God does not merely record outward actions. He knows our thoughts, motives and secret deeds. And while a traffic offence may attract a fine, sin has consequences far more serious than a financial penalty.

Paul writes, “Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men” (2 Cor. 5:11). God's warnings are not empty threats. They should move us to repentance and obedience. Yet, we must not remain in fear without seeking His mercy. Through Jesus Christ, God offers forgiveness and reconciliation to those who turn to Him.

✔️ Believe in Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:9–10).

✔️ Repent of your sins (Acts 2:38).

✔️ Confess Him as Lord (Rom. 10:9–10).

✔️ Be baptised for the forgiveness of your sins (Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16; 1 Pet. 3:21).

✔️ Be added by the Lord to His church (Acts 2:47).

✔️ And continue to walk faithfully in the new life He gives (Rom. 6:4; Rev. 2:10).

Enjoy the grace of God.

Amen.
