  They do not allow Ghanaians to practice the African religion, even though the white man keeps asking them: "Why are u Christian? Don't u have a religion of your own, as an African?"
  In the foreign countries, they have seen that the white man, who gave them that religion, really does not like or respect black people, but they keep lying to themselves that they are also children of the Christian God.
  Also they perpetuate ignorance. Invariably, they support Israel in the Middle East. The Pastors have aligned with the ignorant self-styled tribal chiefs, and have made themselves 'leaders,' who keep the Ghanaians insular and narrow-minded.
  And they collect money from poor, struggling, 'live-in' women and taxi drivers.
  In all these, as in Ghana, their God says nothing.
  A million Ghana Pastors are abroad. They are always praying for some of us to die abroad, so that they will find a way to officiate at our funerals and make themselves 'useful.'
  It is a mess.
  I have said nothing about the Ghanaian Muslims, but some of them go to Mecca from abroad, even though they know that Arabs do not respect or like Black people.

  Any idiot can establish a church.The operaters of many of these churches use the collections to enrich themselves.The monies do not benefit the wider communities.As for spiritual salvation, forget it.

  Are you kidding? Religious institutions are registered as charities which are exempted from paying taxes and not businesse though we know they are judging from their modus operandi. Perhaps, our attention should be shifted towards pastors. I am yet to read about a pastor in Ghana who pays income tax. They would argue that what they earn is not an income but an allowance. Ironically, their earnings or so-called allowances are significantly higher than a significant number of the workers who constitute the congregation, paying taxes regularly alongside giving offerings to the church. In contrast, our pastors have no interest or the desire to pay tax on the massive 'allowance'they receive from sowing seeds of ignorance. Kwame, you're talking about an institution that tends to encourage ignorance among its followers. The present religious institutions are businesses driven by greed and profit-making, though they would deny. The idea of contributing to the expansion of the economy isn't going to work on a number of grounds. You want Ghanaian pastors to devote some time to "re-awakening the consciousness of the religious to committing themselves to the national ideals and discharging faithfully their responsibilities regarding the payment of taxes and respect for state institutions to ensure that collectively the national interest is served and preserved with and their example". Pastors need to re-awaken their own consciousness first and that isn't going to happen now or in the near future. They think the hardworking congregation owes them their livelihood. In theory, your suggestion sounds laudable, but in reality pastors won't do it. At best, they will tell their congregation to pay their taxes, but the pastors themselves won't pay a tax on their income as they believe they're doing a service to the nation. Government needs to have the political will to ensure that pastors pay their fair share of taxes. As much as I'd like to see this happening, it really isn't going to happen in modern Ghana. Remember, many of our politicians rely a great deal on approval from some pastors.

  True Christians are mandated by the LORD God to overcome poverty to make the world a delightful place for all. Christianity should never breed poverty and ignorance among the nations of the world. Religion of Christ is practical and spiritual. Christianity is not a religion of business but acceptable medium of God to overcome deprivation of basic needs of life and death. Churches should therefore stop preaching prosperity messages and concentrate on educating believers to honour their tax obligations to the nation and also use their tithes to eradicate poverty. Taxes and tithes are divine grace to the poor to ensure their earthly living. Tithes are not meant for the church but for the poor which include ministers of God.
  Very soon the true principle of tithing will be made known to fulfill divine mandate to true Christians. The mandate is for true Christians to set the world free from poverty.
