  This is a great job. It's my hope that the stake-holders will put politics aside & look into these propositions to redeem the Scheme from eventual collapse! Thanks for sharing

  Albert, I am not sure whether you are pursing health related course but you seem to believe that tax and tax are the best solutions to the financial challenges facing the NHIS in Ghana. In fact, one of your best solutions is addressing the inefficiencies and corruption within the Scheme. Unless that is done no amount of additional resources will be adequate. It will just be pouring water down the open drain.
  
  Again, with the taxes you proposed you have forgotten that taxes cost money to administer. For example, your claim that GHC3 annual levy on mobile subscribers could bring in additional annual income of GHC54 million. Who will bear the cost of administering the levy?
  
  It appears you are suggesting a windfall tax on financial institutions. Are you implying that the banks are making excessive profits? Are too many taxes not disincentive to investors?
  
  The "sin taxes" are a good idea but what is the guarantee that the funds raised would go into health?
  
  I am of the view that the government cannot rely on tax, tax and more taxes to fund the NHIS. There is the need to explore other innovative solutions in addition to efficiency savings and reducing or eliminating corruption.
