He is a product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana; the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana; and Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Canada. He received his Ph.D. in African history from York University, Toronto, Canada, in 1999.
